PTS: no magic
OOC: *cheerfuly* another pity thread!!
Jackie closed her eyes, struggling to get her emotions under control.
'They don't know ANYTHING' the hurt part of her cried. 'Just shut up, stupid. You're being a wimp. Wake up. So no one will let you stay. It's not too cold. Just because it's the dead of winter and everyone's shutting their doors in your face is no reason to act like a child.' The very-in-control part of her reasoned.
'But it's SNOWING! I just want shelter. I'm going to the last house.'
Jackie straitened and walked to the last house, knocking tenativly.
A small woman answered. "I told everyone to be in by sunset, and here they are at the dead of night!" The old woman cried. "Can I have no peace?"
"I-" Jackie began.
"Yes, yes, you want a room. I know. This is an inn. Couldn't you see the sign?" Tehn, without waiting for an answer, she pushed Jackie up the stairs.
"Go on!" She cried. "In the empty room with you! or is that invisible as well?"
So Jackie found herself being shoved, shocked, into a room by this crazy woman.
"Breakfast starts at the crack of dawn, and ends when the milk gets here! I don't stand for late-risers!"
Just then one of the geusts came out, yawning.
"Hey!" he cried, wakening some of the others, "That's JACKLYN TERRIER!"
"Don't remind me," Jackie murmured as the shocked woman shoved her back outside.
"Let me in!" She cried repeatedly, but consistantly getting feebler. With a final pound on the door, she bit back a sob and ran. At last she collapsed onto the side of a dark building and cried.
Nobody gets it, she knew. They would shut me out if they knew...
Jackie closed her eyes and stood up, biting back sobs. She'd been crying for ages, and dawn was creeping over the mountians. Jackie fled the village as the people started their shops.

Cam had left the inn quietly after the girl, who looked quite depressed. Cam watched her from the side as she wept, holding back untill it ended. When the girl fled Cam followed her slowly, wondering what she'd do when she caught up.
Not for the first time, she murmured, "wish I had my computer. Super-search.com, search for helping depressed kids. It would come up with a million answers, and some of them work. Oy vey." She sighed and as she left the village she held out her Orb, which glowed red with heat in the early morings out here. When she caught up with the girl, she found her against a tree, obviosly trying to get her emotions under control. She seemed to be murmuring things to herself to help.
Jackie had her eyes tight shut, attemping to breath normally. "Stone" she murmured. "I am stone. I will not let the water get through. Never, ever, ever. If they knew, then they wouldn't. They wouldn't ever if they knew..."
"Knew what?" Cam asked gently, but the girl jumped and backed away, Her eyes no more than coals ready to leap into flame. "I'm not going to do anything to you, but I'll help if I can."
"Help ME?" Jackie cried. "Oh yes, I suppose you will. It will be god for me to spend most of my life LOCKED UP, wouldn't it? Would be good for the me to get my prioritys straight, huh? Is that it? Wel, let me tell you something! The person who abandoned me at the age of two needs to get her prioretys straight. The person who burnt down my house and my family need to get their prioretys strait. I mey be bad but not like them!" Then she seemed to realise what she was saying, for her eyes widened momentarily before she shut them, and when they opened the were cold again.
Cammie studied her for a moment, then brought out her dagger and cast it aside. "There" she said quietly, "now I am qiute unarmed, yet you aren't. You may kill me now if it will serve you purpose." Cam closed her fist over the portal, ready to open it, just in case. There were probably authortys all over her lab, trying to get her back. And if this girl tried anything, it would be prison for her.
"If you care at all" Jackie scowled, "then go back and tell them what they want to hear. Leave me be."
Cam merely smiled and left, she had gotten what she wanted. She picked up her dagger and headed for the village, going back to the inn. The milk would be arriving any time, and she coudn't miss breakfast.

Death walked through the village. She sighed, bored with everything that had happened, or rather, that hadn't happened around here.
There was no buisness in a town where everyone got along. She pulled out one of her daggers and started throwing it around absently, before hearing people yelling at eachother.
She turned and hid around the corner, two people, one against a tree, and one... standing, holding a... thingy. They looked rather harmless, she smiled. But they weren't her job.
She sat there until the other chit left, she brushed past her to get to the girl at the tree.

OOC: I like that. A thingy. That's it's new name. Jackie ran her hands through her hair, starting to get frustrated. Why couldn't these poeple get it? She just wanted to be alone. Jackie turned to face the new person.

Death smiled, her attempt at a friendly smile. It still looked like she wanted to kill the girl, but that was normal for anyone. "Did you need a place to stay?" she asked, her eyes never wavering from the girl's.

"What's it to you?"

Death sighed. "I was being civil, it's a first for me. You aren't making it any easier," she shook her head, "Do you want a place to stay or do you want to get rained on?"

"A bit of rain never hurt anyone" Jackie replied. "But truly, what do you want?"

"Fine, you stupid idiotic excuse for a girl! If you can't even except a kind word, maybe I should just... gah!" she yelled, and walked away smiling.

Jackie shrugged and went to scavenge up some food, only to find the first woman was back again.
"I brought some food," Cammie informed her quietly. "Are you sure I can't do anything for you?"
"If" repleid Jackie "you could take me back in time several years, we'd be getting somewhere."
"Oh! That's too bad. The most important thing to you also happens to be something I can, but don't want to do." Cammie brandished the strangie thingey. "This is a time machine, if you must know. Something I made. It'll take me back to my own world in my own good time. Once there, considering you came, I could spend a couple months making something to take me further back in time. Or, wrather, you. The problem is, I came here for research, and I'm not half done."
"Well if it's no good, why bother mentioning it?" JAckie asked scathingly. "Some tiny peice of metal twisted in some weird design. It's doesn't look magical."
"Oh well," sighed Cammie. "That's all I can do for you at the moment. And it's not magic, it's caled technology. INvention..?" At the puzzled look on Jackie's face she shrugged and put it away. "I'll be in the village. If you need anything, blow this next to the inn." She tossed Jackie a whistle and showed her how to use it before walking away.

Death raised an eyebrow at the two. She cocked her head to the side. Whoever this one was, she wasn't from now. And the otherone was a bit too whimpy for her style. She wouldn't even take this case if it meant to kill them. Not enough of a challenge. The one girl was starting to leave, Death stretched out and turned to leave.

A girl walked through the village. She pulled her coat tighter around herself and burried her chin into the collar. Of all the blasted places to try, I had to pick a place in the middle of nowhere in the middle of a storm. She shook her head to herself. Stupid weather, stupid mountain, stupid past.
Elizabeth looked up trying to get her bearings once again. She saw three women standing near a tree. Maybe one of them could tell me where the heck I am.
She walked over. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ OOC: Jen... I don't want David in this, ok?

That was all Jackie could stand. She threw an exasperated look at the new person that was coming and walked away.
Cammie stopped her on the way over. "Right now and her don't go together, and she's kinda fed up. What is it that you want? Maybe a computer..." Cammie paused, frowning, then continued, "sorry, wrong timeline, if you get me."

Elizabeth looked at the young girl strangly as she walked off. What on earth ws that about I wonder.
She shook herhead as if to herself and looked at the other woman. Elizabeth shrugged. "I was just going to ask where here was. A computer? I wish. If I had one of those I would be wandering around in the middle of nowhere." She gave a half-smile.

"Well," Cammie informed her, "this is a first. I tell someone about a computer and they don't call me, or look at me like a whacko." Cammie smiled. "How'd you learn about them?"
