PTS: No outright magic, but a lotta tech stuff that could seem like magic. Closed except for me and the Meggu, please...
He had enjoyed the hunt, leading her along his merry path as he chose. She was a young fool, following him willy-nilly. Now, he was ready to bring this part of the game to a close...
The tracks abruptly vanished, after crossing over and doubling back several times, and there was no sign of her prey, not even the scrape of a tree trunk. It was pin-drop silent, so there must still be some sort of predator here, for even the birds to be silent. But where... where was he?

Selina felt as though she'd been going around in circles for days...which in fact, she had been. After stumbling over her own tracks a few times, she had realized this. She had left detta aways back and taken to foot. Now she was crouched down looking at the spot where the tracks "vanished." It was too quiet...She looked around. he's here...i know it...

//Cat and mouse, poppet... cat and mouse...// he thought, smiling slightly to himself, before dropping silently, directly behind her. "Cat and mouse, poppet..." he whispered aloud, voice low and chilling.

Selina spun arround, guns in hand. "Cat and mouse? well then which are you? the cat or the mouse?" her eyes were the cold eyes of a gunslinger; she was a woman who's emotions had been put on the back shelf. That skill served her well now. This blue haired man gave her a queezie feeling...fear? yes that was what it was...when had she last felt fear? The manhood tests...I feared i would fail and be sent west... The memory was clear in her mind...
(Flashback) One of Selina's friends had just taken his manhood trials and passed. he would go on to become a gunslinger. The boys explained it to her. You get an hour to choose your wepon then you enter the cortyard from the west. if you take the teachers stick and he surrenders, you pass and exit through the east entrance. if you fail, you go west, to remain a boy forever. And so, she challenged the teacher. he laughed, and recieved a broken nose for his trouble. She had shouted at him in anger, "I can be as much a man as any of the boys who have taken the stick from you! Be in the cortyard in an hour and bring your stick, I'll have my wepon." She left him and headed for the kitchens. Her mother had been one of the "Sisters of Oriza," Women who threw metal dinner plates with sharpened edges at targets for sport. Before her mother had sent her here, selina had snuck some of the practice oriza's, or dishes as they were sometimes called, and taught herself to throw. her aim was good. Now, she searched through the dinner plates of the castle, testing the weight and balance of every one, only taking the best. They weren't oriza's, but they would do quite nicely. The hour passed and she and the teacher met out in the cortyard. her friends sat on either side of the west door to watch. She set down her stack of plates "What is your weapon?" "Thease dinner plates." The teacher looked as though he might laugh again, but did not. He noded. She let out a great shout "Riza!" and threw the plates, some went strait at him, others went off to the side and came back around to hit him from behind. He had been caught off guard, while the last of the plates were still in the air, she charged him, shouldering him asside and ripping his ironwood staff from his hands. He would not lose so easily, but distracted by the plates, his attempt to elbow her in the stomach hit her in the chest instead. She fell back. he thought he'd hit home and bent over to take the staff from her, only to be hit upside the head with it. She scrambled to her feet, and begain beating him sensless. "Watch...where...you...put...your...elbows!" she said, hitting him with every word. he put up his arms "Enough! I stand down!" There were cheers from her friends. (end flashback) That day, she had proven herself...she had known her fear for what it was and beat it. but this day was different. she pushed the fear to the back of her mind. it would do her no goood now. "If you think yourself the cat, i should warn you, there have been many times when the mouse has turned the tables on the cat."

"Maybe we're both cats," he said, danger still oozing from him. "I see a tomcat strutting across the barnyard, pretending to be a lion, while he ignores the panther behind him."
He was crouched, dark clothes hiding his body and movements, eyes hidden, though they gave the distinct impression of ice. He didn't make a move to attack her, and she couldn't tell what his weapons were, or if he was even armed. He was danger, death, dispair, and fear condensed into a form of flesh and metal, waiting for her to make a move.

Selina eyed the man crouched before her, keeping her guns on him. She'd not shoot unless he gave her reason. "It's time to give up this game...Come along now." She couldn't get rid of that creepy feeling. Somthing's not right here.

"I'm not finished playing," he said mildly. He didn't seem to fear her guns, though she could tell he knew exactly what kind of weapon they were.

She raised an eyebrow. "oh, but i think you are. I'll not play your game with you any longer. It's time to go...um...hey, what IS your name anyway?" she'd been able to get a description, but not a name.

"Sore wa himitsu desu," he replied calmly, but he seemed to be smirking, as if it were a joke at her expense. "You know I'm the Hunter."

Selina's grey eyes met his bright green ones coldly. "if that's supposed to frighten me..."she sniffed a laugh. "it seems the hunter has become the hunted." god blast it! I don't want to shoot you, you fool. why do they always have to make things difficult?!?

"Only because I wanted to become the hunted, poppet. I like giving myself a handicap, it makes the game oh-so-much more fun." A small smile told her that it was exactly how he viewed it: a game.

Selina's fuse was growing short. "I'll give you one last chance...come along." her grey eyes were growing colder by the second. "I don't want to have to shoot you."

"You couldn't if you wanted to," he told her matter-of-factly. "You couldn't hit me."

Arrogantly, he stood there, waiting for her to pull a weapon. There was a slight smile on his face, the sure smile of someone who knows he's perfectly safe.
