The Adventures of the Red Rain

Jenna passed one of the local taverns, in her 'Cabin-boy' disguise. She could distinctly hear several voices singing drunkenly. No less then three were from members of her own crew. Sounded like they were having a gas. She smiled to herself as she continued on down the street. They deserved a break. They had all had a long time at sea.

It had also been profitable too.

She was just passing a alleyway when a pair of hands snatched her arms, pulling her off the main street.

"Giv us your glim, boy! Or it be over fer ya." A gruff voice demanded. There were at least three muggers; the one holding her and two others effectively blocking escape.

Jenna smiled. "You don't know what you're doing. Let me go and I'll let you off easily." She knew they wouldn't listen to a meer "boy", but she always gave warning. The muggers laughed, as usual.

Eli peered at the scene through her fingers, eyes wide with wonder. She had seen several muggings, but this seemed....

...Different.

It was probably because the boy they were attacking didn't seem scared in the least.

Jenna twisted her arm out of the mugger's grip and punched the second one hard in the gut, putting her back to the wall at the same time. She waited for the men to rush her. She didn't see the reason to waste her energy in charges and rushes unless it meant a quick end to a fight.

The man she hit bent over gasping for air. The other two rushed in, fists swinging. She ducked under one, grabing his shirt and throwing him into his partner. They went down momentarily with a thud. The Gasper had recouvered and drew a short-sword. He started a series of cuts with it, attemping to look impressive. Jenna rolled her eyes and fired one of her pistols at him, shooting through the hand holding the sword.

"...Ah!?" Eli murmured, slowly backing away untill she hit a wall.

There would be enough time to cheer up afterwards.

The Muggers decided to cut their loses and make a run for it. Jenna laughed and shook her head at their fleeing backsides. She turned to leave when she notices her "audience".

"Oh...."

"OH! Um, hi! My name is Eli! That was like, really cool, what you did right there," Eli said in a rush, a perfectly real-looking smile brightening her face.

Jenna blinked, then smiled with a shrug. It was just a girl. "Why waste the energy on showy moves?" She said in explaination. She started to move out of the alley, then looked the girl over again, noting the thread-bare and slightly worn look of her clothes.

"This area isn't really safe for a girl like you to be wandering around in by yourself, hun. Do you have someplace to go?"

"Not really..." Eli began slowly, her mind once again racing through things to say.

"But.. I... I think I'll be fine?"

Jenna shook her head. She knew very well what could happen to females in this part of town. It was one of the main reasons she dressed as a boy off the ship. That and it was more comfortable to move around and fight in.

"Know anything about sailing? I'm sort of in the market for some new crew."

"I......um...." Eli thought back, she could only remember being on a small canoe with-

/No, I won't think about that,/ she thought, shaking herself slightly.

"Not really," She admitted, "But I'll come if you like!"

Jenna shrugged off Eli's lack of sailing experience. She didn't mind teaching someone how to do things. She was always willing to learn new things herself even.

"Come on then. The ship's this way." She said with a smile, leading the way down to some of the lesser known docks. "We'll be in port for a another day or so at least. So if there is anything you need to get, let me know okay?"

Eli blinked, things she... Needed?

"I have everything I need," she said, without thinking about it. She had always had what she needed...

Jenna looked back at her and shrugged again. "If you say so."

One of the crew called down a greeting as they approached the ship. Jenna waved back, but didn't say anything about her companion. Without preamble she ushered Eli on board and into her Captain's quarters.

Eli quickly shifted her body posture to fit the sloping of the ship, knowing she'd have to be quite familiar with the rockings before they got too extreme.

Jenna watched Eli out of the corner of her eye, smiling to herself as she saw Eli rebalanced herself to the ship's movments. She held the door to her quaters for the girl and shut it behind her. She waved at the one of the chairs by the desk.

They were to say the least rather sparten. A desk, a table, a few chairs, and a couple of chests. The only real luxury was the bed with it's soft sheets and numberous pillows. She casually tossed the long coat that covered her figure onto the bed.

Then she took a seat at the desk and looked at Eli. "Do you have any questions?"
