Lani sat in her room, staring at the hourglass, willing the sand to fall just a little bit faster. It didn't work. When at last the last few grains were gone, she decided to look for Tarn.
The room was clean, all the crayons scraped off the walls of Tarn's room. The pictures were neatly in two stacks, hers and his. Seeing that he wasn't there, se kept going.
Sure enough he was with Braedon in the Cabin.

Braedon gave Lani a smile and waved her over to them.
Her godfather gave her a hug when she was close enough.

Lani grinned and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Uncle Braedon!" she cried out. Her eyes seemed to sparkle like emralds. "We're over mountains!"

Braedon smiled back at her. "We are, do you want to go up on deck and get a better look?" He suggested.

Lani nodded eagerly, her curles bouncing on her shoulders.

Braedon took her hand and led her back to her room, where her got her out a coat. Hanny had made sure that he didn't take her out without one in this weather.
Afterwards, he led her outside, and to the side of the ship. He held her hand to make sure she didn't fall over the side.

Lani looked over the side. She loved flying. She had been born doing it. "Where are we, Uncle?" she asked.

"We're over a country that we've never been to before, apparently your mother has family here." He said, putting a hand on her little shoulder, to keep her safe.

"What do they call it?" she said, leaning over the edge.

"I think it's called Candustine, or something." He said, not really sure, or having any idea what the name meant.
He pulled Lani back a little when she got to close to falling off for his liking.

"What's it like down there?" she asked. Clouds whorled overhead, just barly above them, and a chill breezy carried down a spray from them. It could hardly be called rain, but it was still wet.
Tarn looked over too. There were mountains, vallies, and even a few cities that he could see. "They seem to be doing well enough for themselves, whatever it is that they do."
Lani looked from the ground to Tarn. "What are they like? Are they nice?"

"I don't know. As far as I know, only your mother has been here before, and that was a long time ago." Braedon explained.

"Then I'll go ask her!" She trotted along, back down to her parents' room. After giving Braedon a glance, Tarn followed after her.

Braedon turned back to look over the side. He was probably going to get it in the neck for telling her that...

Hanny hadn't said another word on the subject to Largo. When Andrew had started crying she rocked him, singing one of her quiet songs to him, just has she had sung to Tarn and Lani in years before. There was no knock out the door before a little golden head poked in and trotted over to Largo, still sitting on the bed.
Lani had seen the baby, but didn't care. She hopped up on the bed and asked, "What's Candustine like?"
