Blackie noticed her looking at him kind of curiously. He wondered what was there to spark her curiosity... still, no time to think about that now.
"We should get out of this building," he said to her, his voice again strangely distant to him.

She looked around wildly, still with a spark of fervent hope -- the fire was fierce, but it wasn't too late to get out if they moved quickly...
Despite her desperation, she could find no sign of either an exit or an end to the hallway's vast length. Like the mountains, it seemed to almost move in a vague, distorted, undefinable way.
"There's no way out!" she called back to him over the roar of the inferno.

"There's always a way out!" Blackie argued, and decided it was time to test how much of his old power he had back.
He balled his hands into fists and then quickly spread them to his sides. The blurring speed his fingers moved out seemed to cause blue arcs of energy. However it was closer to a clumsy mistake due to lack of practice. Then, after a brief moment of suspenseful nothingness his hands began to pull the flames toward them, forming balls of fire energy in his hands. They grew larger, until they were larger than the span of his hands.
He then let out a short breath, the kind one does before skydiving. When taking a risk that could blow up in their face. Then suddenly he turned to the wall to his left, and brought his hands together. The fire energy merged together and shot out in a brief but sustained blast. Crashing into the wall, and blasting a hole in the building's fire-weakened structure.

Leeloo stumbled after Blackie in the wake of destruction his hands left. The crisp air was gloriously refreshing against her hot, flushed skin.
There was no time to enjoy it. As she stepped forward eagerly, the ground simply stopped existing. Together, they began to fall.
It was impossible to say how far they descended, or how fast. Far below them was a sprawling sea that glittered in the faint glow of starlight. It was fathomlessly broad, and such a handsome, shimmering cobalt... from so high up, Leeloo could almost see the elegant curve of the earth.
Without warning the water was no longer below them, but around them, and it snapped hungrily at their shoulders and faces with brutal white-capped fingers. The sea's fierce spray doused their faces and touched their bones with a penetrating chill.
"Blackie!" wailed Leeloo, and stretched out her hand to him. Cats detested water; she hated to think how he must feel now.
She didn't question how she knew his name.
