Jan snorted to herself and sat, leaning against one of the walls.

Braedon sat by Jan against the wall, finishing the last of his sausage, and then pulling out an apple, and beginning to cut slices off of it with a knife.
He offered some to Jan.

"Genkihi dummj," smiled the Amazon tradesman, who'd just indulted the man's intelligence through a slab of jerky. And he didn't know it.

Jan gave the man a withering look. As if I didn't realized that. she thought angrily, careful to keep that hidden from her face.

Jan looked into the fire for a moment before answering.
"I was hired as a guard of a caravan. A mercenary group attacked us while the wagons were wallowed in deep snow. I said we should make a run for it, but the merchants refused to leave their goods. We made a stand of defense but they just ran over us. It was a slaughter. Me and a few others ran.
"We cut through the trees back along the road. I came back, wipping out our trail when I found them following us. I went in a different direction to lead them away. Then the storm hit."

Braedon nodded. "I see..."
"If you like, you can continue to the town I was heading to with me. If the bandits show up, then we can pose as two simple travellers. "They shouldn't attack us if they have an entire caravan's worth of goods. And with those clothes, they probably wont recognise you. "They most likely gave up the search as soon as the storm hit. You're a witness, they don't like that, but they will think the stom got you." Braedon said, summing up his thoughts.
