Jan shrugged. "I need to know who hired them." she made a dismissive gesture to the unconcious bodies of the gang.

Cammie smiled and decided, "we better go in the direction they were taking, it ought to lead us somewhere." She turned and began to treck down the dusty side of the road.

Jan shrugged again and shouldered her pack. She followed the woman down the road without saying anything.

Meloncar was sitting nearby, not making a sound. He smiled. The fool was falling for his trap! The bunch of ninkompoops could never have contained Cammie...he knew her too well, and instructed them to gaurd her weak points, not her strong points. Strategy and breakouts.
His reasons, as they had widely missed, were simple. She was done her research, she would tell him what she knew, he would dispose of her, and go back to the future and claim all the reward. He had been in the lab the day she made her discovery, and followed her through the portal before it closed. He, howeverm had no way back, and therefore he was trapped until he got the portal away from her somehow.
So now Cammie was headed straight for his trap. He smiled wider. He had promised the men money he didn't have, and now they were in no state to recieve it anyways, so...
He had instructed the men to go to the town nearby and accuse her of witchcraft. He would have all her possesions brought to him, which would include the research and the one thing that could bring him back and give him ulimate fame.
But, as he'd intended, it had failed. Now she was headed for the town. That other one with her couldn't be too hard to deal with.
Cammie looked up. It was getting dark, the outline of a small town was in front of her. When she got there she headed for the nearest inn.

Jan frowned as they entered the town. There was a heavy feeling to the area. Almost like the scent of fear. She leaned towards Cammie.
"Something isn't right here. Feel it?"

Cammie had hesitated before going in the inn. When Jan noticed it, too, she agreed. "I think we're coming to the source of my problem."

Jan shrugged again. She wasn't sure what was causing the feeling.

Cammie viewed the room calmly. There, she noticed, there were some men in the corner. At least, they might be men, she couldn't tell from this angle. They were bent down low, talking to each other in hushed voices.Cammie considered them for a moment, then went to the inn keeper to request a room.

Jan followed along behind Cammie, keeping an easy hold on her glaive. She kept a weathered eye on the other patrons. It never hurt to be suspicous. That was what had kept her alive this long.

Cammie went up to the female inn keeper.
"Rosie here, at your service." Her smile was freindly, but she had the same frightened air as everyone here.
"I'd like a room," Cammie answered calmly.
"I'll need five dollars and fifty seven cents," Rosie informed her.
Cammie handed her a ten, oblivios to the use of modern terms, and walked off in the direction of the staircase.
In the corner, one of the men looked up and surveyed her and her companion going up the stairs. He nodded to the rest of the men and walked up after them silently, carrying a power lock in his hand. He always kept one with him. When he got up he silently locked them in the room, planning to get to the window later. They couldn't get out of it, it was three floors up!

Jan followed along behind as they went upstairs. She was a little confuse by the strange terms the innworker had used. As far as she knew that wasn't how money was counted in Incarius.
She was still standing near the door when she heard someone just on the other side of the door. The half-elven girl frowned when she heard somthing being attached to the door. Instandly she tried to open the door. When it didn't work, Jan cursed.
"Someone doesn't want us to leave."

"I thought we might be coming to my source." She smile, but her eyes were still afraid. "If only..." Her hands searched her robe.
"Yes," she whispered, bringing out a rock climber. "This," she showed it to Jan, "costed me millions. Now I'm glad to have had the money." She smiled more broadly, and attatched it to the window. It suctioned on in moments, good if you're going down on a break-neck fall.
Cammie tossed Jan a rope that was secured onto it, grabbed one herself, climbed onto the window, nodded to Jan and jump backwards. The rope was taut halfway, but it kept slowly unravelling untill her weight hit the ground. Cammie called up to Jan to come down moments before she was grabbed from behind.
Cammie turned slowly as the man brought her around. Once around, they smiled at each other. And Cammie punched his lights out. She looked at his hands, where he held a tiny device. Cammie frowned at it. It was definitly from the future. A grim smile apeared on her face when she recogised it and realized they had just gotten away in time.
It was a small bomb, built to make you fall unconcios. She picked it up and saw the small timer on it. They had five minutes to get away before they were caught. She turned to check on Jan only to have her lights punched out by another man who had been with the first. The flicker of recognition made her gasp.
It was Melonmacar.
Melonmacar had only just getten there. He'd seen the escape and gone with the man to secure them. And now Cammie was caught. He smiled happily. The other woman hadn't showed up yet, so he geussed that Cammie was now alone. He grabbed Cammie and made a run for it.

Jan caught the rope as it was tossed to her. She watched how Cammie repelled down the outsidewall, before climbing out the window. She saw the two men go after the other woman.
Wrapping the end of the rope around one arm, Jan Jumped after Cammie. She didn't want to hit the girl, so she spun the glaive around, aiming the butt end for the middle of the second man's back.

Melon(his new nick) made a face at the sudden pain in his back. He flew around and cursed at the sight of the other person. It was a woman, and she had a weird weapon-ish-thingey in her hands.
'Of course,' he scolded himself mentally, 'you should never have let her go.'
He brought out a small hand-held gun he kept for emergencies, hoping against hope the the stupid woman would see danger not weird metal thing. In case she did see a weird shaped metal thing, he aimed it next to her head and pulled he trigger. The bullet zoomed past her and made a hole in the wall. He turned it on her cooly.
"Move and the next hole will be in your belly," he informed her.

Jan landed in a crouch to kill her momentum. As she stood, she flinched as something wizzed past her ear. She never took her eyes off the man as she shifted her glaive.
"I have no concern over my own life." she said softly as she slashed at the hand with the stange weapon.
