Melon cursed and dropped the gun. He swore and snatched out Cammie's dagger. He had never learned to use it, but how could she know that? He looked at the glaive, nearly letting fear into his eyes.
Cammie came around slowly. She took in the scene around her and looked at Melonmacar.
"Nick?" She asked. "What are you doing? Why are you doing this?"

Jan held the glaive easily. She noticed the man's grip on the dagger was a little uncertain. She also saw him hide the fear in his eyes. Jan didn't make any move, either to attack or defend.

"Want to be something like you," Nick answered, him voice had an edge of fear that he was painfully aware of.
"Nick," Cammie begged. "please stop this. She will kill you if you attempt to kill her first. Just please let me go. There is no fame in death."
"Cammie!" He cried, flinging around. "All my life I've wanted to be anything remotly like you. This could be my big break! Don't let me blow it, ok?" It wasn't a question. He kicked her.
Cammie reacted instantly. She sprang up and slapped him across the face. She pulled at his legs and he fell on his back. She snatched her dagger away and held it to his throat.
"I never help anyone to be someone they're not," she murmured, before activating the portal.
"If you want to go home," she told him, "go now. I want to stay a little bit longer."
She smiled, satisfied, as he walked dejectedly towards it. When he was through, she closed it, and turned back to Jan.

Jan relaxed slightly as the young man went through the portal. Cautiously she went over to the unconcious man and prodded him gently with her glaive.

The man jumped, he had been merely lying still for some time now, and he got up and ran, stumbling along the way, to the inn.

Jan let the man go. He was basically harmless. Only a tool for the other man that left through the portal.
She turned back to Cammie with a slightly quizzical expression.

Cammie was gazing in the direction Mel had taken.
"Oh," she said softly, "you fool, you young fool."
She turned to Jan and explained, "he was my pupil, and he must've been the one I was teaching when I came here. He got a little ambitios, by the looks of things."

Jan grunted and shrugged. "You can't kept children wrapped up in lambswool forever." she commented, sounding much older than her seventeen years.

"Yes," Cammie agreed, "but this, this is just a bit much."

Jan shrugged again. "What do you want to do now?"

"Dunno," Cammie(catching onto the new trend ) shrugged, "I've never been here before...I'll just hang out for a while."

"We should head back into the room. The lock is probably still in place." Jan shifted her pack to the other shoulder.

Cammie nodded. She went back around to the front of the inn, went up the stairs, and to her rom, to find a few men sitting there, asleep. Cammie tapped one on the shoulder.
"Nick says to leave her be," Camie told him in a low, gruff voice.
"Boss doesn't stand to be called Nick..." he mumbled.
"He'll let me, I used to be his 'boss'."
At that the man jumped, shok the other men, and they were out of the in seconds.
Cammie bent to the lock. This would be easy, she made this lock and it only had one combonation. It was meant to keep people in, not out. She'd sold half a dozen to local Jails.
It was off as quickly as the men had left. Cammie stowed it in her coak, smiled, and went in.

Jan watched as the men left, taking a a stance only slightly less then perfect attention. She returned the looks they cast at her coldly. She waited until she couldn't hear them on the stairs before following Cammie into the room.

Cammie waited untill she was inside, then put the power lock on the inside of the door.
"So we won't be bothered again," she explained.
