"Your world must be amazing, to have creatures such as these..."

Rainlight shrugged. "It had dangers as well. That was why the dragons were created."

"But this world seems to be so calm," Red murmured, tearing her gaze from the fire lizards and gazing around. "In my world, there would be soldiers everywhere. Making their daily rounds. And...the ... the gaurdians would have no rest, training more and more untill they just couldn't train anymore. But no gaurdian's gotten that far. It's been so hard....I mean, it's been hard for the gaurdians." She corrected herself hastily.

Rainlight nodded. This world was similar but also different from Pern. "What is your world like?"

"It's complicated," Red murmured. Then she looked up at Rainlight, hoping for all the world she was putting her trust in the right person.
"Well, I gues I better start with explaining about the jewels. There are several jewels, but only two with great power. The Holy Jewel and the Darkness Jewel. The rest are merely low elements. The Holy Jewel has mainly healing power, but it's power could be chanelled in order to attack. It's only been used once, and the concequences..." Red shuddered, "our world had to start over again, right from the beggining. There were only a scattered few families left. And the Darkness Jewel, it has never been used, though rumour would have it that in the very beggining of the world, it sent out an attack and purified the planet of everything except for one family.
"Anyways, over time the idea for gaurdians came up, for the Jewels, I mean. Gaurdians for the Jewels. And, after time, greed came up. The lower elements had small scuffles, and their Jewels changed hands many time. The Holy and Darkness Jewels....a war appeared out of nowhere, and though most of the lower elements sided with Holy, Darkness' attacks were so much stronger. Consequently, it was much more difficult to gaurd the Holy Jewel. The High Preist was on the brink of getting a dark-powered Calun* to gaurd it, when someone came up with the idea to have someone have something to channel the Holy powers through to make a stronger attack. It was voted in, and the High Priest agreed, so they set to work creating a weapon. They decided on a dagger. It looked," Red took out her dagger, wondering what she was doing, "like this." She showed Rainlight.
Then she stopped, glancing up at Rainlight. "You're...you're sure I can trust you?"

Rainlight was listening quietly. She wasn't truely sure if she was following what Red was talking about, but she was doing her best. The elf nodded at her question.
"I swear on my dragon's egg that I am trustworthy."

Red nodded, then started to rush along a bit. This was the worst part, at least in the telling.
"Then, they chose me, because I had the powers to weild it. But I wasn't willing, so they had to take me away from my family. And then, I had to train. Over and over, every day. I just wanted to go home....all I ever want is to go home..." Red trailed off, loking down.

Rainlight reached out and put her arm around the other girl. She never knew her parents, but she could still remember how she felt when her foster mother died.

Red leaned against her, fighting back tears. //I can't cry. I can't cry. Oh, I can't cry. I have to be strong. I-won't-cry-I need to protect it----//
"Oh, no," Red murmured, feeling where the Jewel usually lay. She immediatly got down on her hands and knees, searching franticly for it. With a sigh, she saw it, and she reached out to get it. She stuffed it into her pouch, blushing furiosly.

Rainlight caught a glance of a gemstone of some sort before Red put it back into her pouch.
"Is that this 'Jewel'?" She asked.

The innkeeper came in, yawning, and saw Laura in the water. "Hey! What are you doing in there? That's for guests only." "For what I paid buddy? I am a guest!" She realized she was standing in nothing but her birthday suit, and the innkeeper was no prude. In fact, he was openly gaping at her! She covered herself and sank back into the water, retrieving the soap, shampoo, conditioner and towel, just to throw it at the innkeeper again. "Ugh! Get out you pervert! Ugh, you lecher! Get out! Get out!" She screamed. The innkeeper, so taken off balence by her reaction threw up his towel and scurried out of the room, his face beet red and mumbling incoherent apologies. Once he was gone she sank back down into the water, completely relaxed. That was her best performance yet, even if she did say so herself.

"Um, yeah, I mean, um, maybe. Um, no? Yes. Yeah, it is." Red stammered.

Darkwood slightly opened the bathroom door again and said "See... Told you it was unisex." With that he gave out a small giggle, closed the door again and walked back into the inn.

This time Laura subdued the squawk but threw the nearby shampoo at the door as he closed it, just for good measure. She settled down in the tub again, pretending to be in a huff, but smiled in spite of herself. She tilted her head toward the door, wondering if he was still peeking.

"You have a very interesting way of answering." Rainlight said, a smile hovering at the edges of her lips. Rith rumbled again and Rainlight laughed.
"All right, all right. We will go hunting." She said playfully at her dragon. "Just so you can stuff you craw."
Rith looked at her and nudged the elf with her nose at that comment. Rainlight laughed again and climbed onto Rith's back, just infront of the wingjoints. HSe held a hand down to Red. "Just put your foot on Rith's leg. It won't hurt her."
