PTS: no magical chars, ty.
Two girls walked quietly through the yards. Looking for food. And following the star. Not the north star, no, a strange, bright star that only appeared every couple days. They didn't know what it was, but it was interesting enough to follow. Maybe. Both girls were starting to wonder why this had seemed so very important to them, it was almost too cold at night to be out of doors. Suddenly they both stopped, for one had tripped over what looked like a potatoe plant. Both girls glanced around and then got down on their knees to dig. And it was potatoes. Good, wild potatoes. Not like those store-bought ones that've been in storage for ages, but green, and fresh, and wonderful. And as they made a small fire and cooked them, both girls remembered why they'd been following the star.
They had nothing else to do.
And so, when they were done cleaning and packing, they left in the direction of the star again.
"This is boring, Sil," one of them whispered, but instantly she regretted it. About a dozen dogs started barking, and Sil and the other girl ran as fst as they could, away into....a bog!?

OOC: Eques isn't magical per-say. He has no magical powers, but he is a centaur. Is that all right?

OOC: Great ;D Wanted to ask befor I jumped in. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eques could hear a pack of dogs barking in the distance. It wasn't unusual in that dogs barked at things in the night, but in the moonlight he could see two small figures run right into the bog because of the barking.
Curious, he trotted to the edge of the muddy guck.

OOC: "Pattie!" Sil whispered loudly. "This is disgusting!"
"Yeah, but look at that!!" Pattie replied. Sil looked to where her sister was pointing, and saw something that she hadn't wanted to see.
"I say," Sil said, "why did that bloody star have to end up on the OTHER side of this dreadful mess? Can't we just go around it?"
"We could, I suppose," replied Pattie, "but look at the size of this thing!"
both girls grimaced. It was huge.
What was this place??
They truned around to get out, then they blinked, for there was someone, or at least something, that hadn't been there before.
"I say, who're you?" They asked.

Eques raised an eyebrow but answered, "I am Eques Kishu. It looks like you could use some help out of there."

The girls looked down and blushed slightly, though you couldn't see it in the light. Or wrather dark. Anyways, it was true, they could use some help. They had sunk almost to their waists in the gunky .... stuff.
Sil looked up to ask for help, then noticed something. "Oh, I say! Are you a Centaur?" She'd only seen pictures of them.

Eques chuckled softly. "Aye. I am."
Carefully he unlooped a coil of rope from his pack. After wrapping one end around his arm securely, he tossed the rest of it out to the girls. "Grab ahold of that and I will pull you to firmer ground."

They both grabbed the rope firmly and waited to be pulled out, but wondering how they'd ever get THROUGH this mess.

Eques backed up slowly pulling the rope towards himself. Once the girls were on firmer ground, he took back the rope.
"Are you all right now?"

"Yeah, thanks a lot!" they both said. Then they turned back to the bog. It was, indeed, miles to go around it. But they couldn't go through it, obviosly. Oh well. Might as well start off. But first...
"Sir," said Pattie, "um, have you any idea what star that is?" She pointed across the swamp. "See, we've been following it and it, well, it-"
"Dissapeares." Interrupted Sil. "Completely goes poof every second night or so."

Eques looked out across the bog at the bit of sky the girls were pointing at. "It is odd behaviour for a star. You can barely see it from where my folk live."

"Oh!" Sil cried in delight. "There's more of you? Centaurs, I mean? How wonderful! Pattie, we should give up on this and go see the Centaurs!!"
"But we've been following the star for so long, Sil," Pattie answered, "and I want to know why disapears. I'll follow it even though it goes on the other side of the sea, I will!"
"Aw, you're no fun, I DO want to see Centaurs. I suppose I'll have to settle with one?"
"I suppose you will. Sorry, Mr. Kishu, but we've got to go now." And Pattie left.
Sil made a face, apologized to Eques, and caught up.
OOC: you mightas well follow....lol. And I hope the star does end up on the other side of the sea. That'd be something.

"If you don't mind my saying, you two don't seem to be from here." Eques said as he paced along side the girls. "You have made me curious about this star. Whould you mind if I join you?"

"Yes! I....I mean no! No, of course you can join us!" Sil cried. "And we're not really from here, we saw that star from home and wanted to follow it. That was days ago."
Pattie just shrugged.
