He pointed to the dragon. Then pointed to his mouth, then back to the dragon, and then to his ear.

I think you can talk through me. Rith said. I can hear him very well.
Rainlight looked at Rith. She remembered that dragons can make themselves heard to who ever they wish.
The elf nodded. "Go ahead, I guess."
The dragon shifted in the sands. May we ask what the name of this world is? a voice nearly identical to Rainlight's asked in the man's mind.

"I do not know, this is not my world. My dragon and I were separared in the 'accident'." The man spoke in his foreign tongue to the dragon.

Rith relayed what he said.
"That sounds similar to what happened to us." Rainlight said. "Except we stayed together."

"We got brought here while fighting that mutant you saw dead in the water. I fell." He said in the foreign tongue.

"You are lucky you were over water. To have survived the fall." Rainlight said as she picked up a handfull of sand, letting it pour through her fingers.

The man waited for the dragons translation, then smiled and nodded, playing with the sand a little himself. "Yes, I'm glad about that too. Good thing you made it out of it alright too." He said.

Rainlight smiled back. "I had Rith and Larie and Kryl with me. And I am used to living Holdless. At least this world seems to have no Thread."

"Well, we were injured from the battle. There were many of those creatures. One crashed into me and knocked me off. " The man recounted.
"What is this, 'Thread'?" He asked, the last word in her langauge.

It's Thread. Rith said.
"He is not from Pern, dearheart." Rainlight reminded her dragon.
"Thread is something that falls from the sky, almost like rain. It eats through everything except stone and metal. The only way to kill it is fire or water." The elf twisted around a bt and lifted the back of her shirt, revealing a long ragged scar on her back.
"I got this near the end of the second Pass."

The man winced a little at the scar.
"My world is a ruin" The man said. "People live in terror of the monsters left behind by the ancients. And evil empires come to power by scavenging technology from the ruins all over the planet." He told her.
"It's a harsh place". He said sadly.

Rainlight winced. For all that there was the thread of Threadfall, Pern was a very peacefull place. Attacks on other Holds were next to never.
"It must be very hard for you to be unable to do anything."

"It's not a matter of doing nothing, I have a dragon. Too many people depend on me..." He said. Shaking his head. For perhaps the first time his weariness showed through.

"Your dragon must be some where. We will have to keep looking." Rainlight said confidantly. The man wasn't acting like a dragonless man would. Those were only half-men after losing their weyr-mates.

"I sense he is close, probably hiding and regaining his strength." The man said, and lay back in the sand himself.
