"Now you've done it," Tekk said in a quiet, dangerous voice. "You've gone and sentenced yourself and the others to be killed." For all intents and purposes, the Hunter seemed to vanish.
It seemed as though all the underworld scum was moving towards the group, seemingly abandoned by Tekk, in the pitch dark. They didn't bother being quiet--they knew they outnumbered the pathetically small group by at least four to one.

Vex drew the two custom guns from their holsters, both made a simultanious whine as they charged.
The cerebral ports' targeting sensors came online. Telling him exactly where to shoot, and bringing up green outlines to the figures in the shadows.
He let the guns fire. Each was as fast as an Ingram, but spat out blue bolts of energy rather than bullets.
The narrow passage worked to his advantage by limiting the number of enemies that could oppose them at once.

Elizabeth drew her own gun. She stayed close to Vex only so she wouldn't get hit by the so-called "friendly-fire". Absently she grabbed the back of Rimmer's shirt with her free hand and pulled him aside as well.
Her implant sent out impulses, working much like sonar. With each high-frequence sound, the figures in the tunnels were sharply outlined.
She fired several times, always checking her aim before firing. With each shot, a figure fell.

Unfortunately, there were lots of people, and they were armed as well, both with guns, whose reports deafened those nearby, and with Yu lasers, silent and deadly red beams. Tekk was nowhere in sight.

Elizabeth cursed as some of their shots marked her. She could feel blood running down her left arm and leg. Her right side felt burned and she could smell singed hair from another shot near her head.

Most of Vex's clothing was designed with protection in mind, while keeping it unnoticed. This allowed him to avoid serious injury thus far.
However to avoid further injury he grabbed one of the men in front of him, and used him as a human shield.
He also flicked one of his sleeves which released a grenade under the feet of the people in the tunnel.
He continued to mow them down before they could take aim, waiting for the explosion.

OOC: ROB!!! You're in a tunnel. Underground. Lots of concrete above your head, lots of dirt above that. So our first thought is, "Let's throw an explosive device that'll bring the whole roof--and what's on top of the roof--crashing down! Whee!" Me and Dennelle: You're an idiot!
And where's Rimmer?
As the shots were flying, there were men on the criminal's side that were going down as well. However, they kept up a steady stream of fire, hoping to cut the group down, hoping they got lucky and there were a few hundred credits on their combined heads the criminals could split.

OOC: Who said it was a conventional grenade? I was hoping to get that reaction from the characters. ;D Though maybe explosion was a bad word to use at the end of it..

OOC: *strangling on her own laughter* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Elizabeth knew she was running out of bullets. "We have to do something." she yelled over the dim to Vex.

OOC: Rim, hate to break it to you after that great post, but these aren't Yu. They're just your average, well-armed, underworld scum.

OOC: Well, smeg. In my little world, small-time criminals do not have the dough to get this grade weapons, but that's just me... Repost. ========================================
OOC: I'm right here, for chrissakes. And to explain further: Kingpin the Jester says: You guys need to tell me when I am absolutely needed now and then. Sometimes, just sometimes, I will get busy. Now I am apparently behind in Refuge. ========================================
Now let's get in character:
Rimmer must've been daydreaming in the worst possible situation ever.
A band of criminals charged at them, now just a bunch of dinky figurines with weapons, but they were coming up close, and the lasers became louder.
Now was not the time to go in zombie mode.
The initial panic surfaced in his thoughts...
Rimmer then remembered he was previously trained to work with the more dangerous side of law enforcement, and he had his glock with him... he would use it.
But his mind reminded him of the sick sight of red, slick, oily blood... eugh! He didn't like it... not the art patterns it made when it splattered... nothing.
So he would use it only when necessary now, the bang of his glock's hammer sounding off only when an attack was successful on him. Otherwise he wormed, slid, and ran his way through the rest of the length of the tunnel.
======================================== OOC: OK, not as great as the first but eh, what's to expect? What was here before was solely meant for the Yu.

Unfortunately, the criminals that had been tracking them had allies. Set off by Rimmer's yell, the underworld gangs were coming out, joining the fight. Also unfortunately, there were now twice as many people on the opposite side.

OOC: Well smeg, I feel like Osama now. Tekk better get back here and launch a bomb or something. Or maybe, just maybe... a miracle from the cactuar God?

The grenade that Vex had thrown, detonated, sending out a stunning wave, taking out about 24 of the men on one side. Providing them a slight opening.

The local criminal element started to become disorganized and chaotic, unsure of themselves after the grenade. They were slow to close the gap, but it was starting to narrow slightly, more due to chaos than to actual organization.
