Hakai frowned. Gaven didn't seem to be wearing any sort of shoes. The danger of frostbite would be very real in the type of cold the mountain had.
"Wait." He said as he rooted through one of the packs. Finally he fished out a extra pair of boots. They would be too big for Gaven but they would be better then no boots.
"You should put these on."

Her eyes lit up at the sight of the warmth giving bootrs and she snatched them. "Ohhh, thank you." She ran back inside the cave where seconds later tearing sounds could be heard. A moment later, she came back out with the boots on her feet, strips of purple cloth binding the shoes snugly to her legs. Her left sleeve was fraying on its' edges. With a tug on her belt to tighten her robe, she looked up and smiled brightly. "Okay, let's go." She walked past him. "My mother always said that every journey begins with the first step!"

Hakai nodded. That was also a truism among his people. With natural ease, he swung up into Imoto's saddle and held out a hand to Gaven.

She looked at his hand uncertainly and grasped it. "Um," she bit her lower lip. "I've never ridden a horse before."

Hakai helped her up behind him. "Just hang onto me. We won't be going very fast, but this will be faster then walking."

"Oh, okay." Her legs were sticking out at odd angles and she quickly clamped them to the beasts' sides, holding onto Hakai for dear life. She didn't want to know what it felt like to slip off the back of a moving horse.

Hakai set Imoto off at a slow walking pace, as much to be careful as to not strain the horse. He only held the reins loosely, since the mare could be trusted on finding the best path to follow.

After a while of looking at the now common sight of the mountains, she became bored and gathered up enough courage to look over the side of the cliff. Instantly she leaned back, regretting her STUPID decision. "Long drop! That's a long drop," she said, trying to work off some of her nervous energy. That really was a STUPID idea! "So... how long have you been up here in the mountains?"

Hakai kept a carful eye out for obsticles hidden under the snow. "I have been in the mountains only for a few days."

"Here in Lunairis? The last stop I made before entering the mountians was at the capital, Lunep." Hakai answered. "It's a very pretty city, in a winter sort of way."

Hakai nodded. After a few hours, he pulled Imoto to a stop and offered a hand to help Gaven to dismount.
"I want to walk her for a while. So she will not get injuried."

She took his hand and slipped off the horse awkwardly. "Well, this has been an interesting excursion so far," she said conversationally. "I've camped out, I'm traveling through the mountains, I've even ridden a horse! It's a big change from studying dusty old contexts in drafty old towers."

Hakai slipped of the mare's back with ease. "I have also come a long way from a simple rider of the Grasslands. I have seen more of my world then many of my clan. I have begun training on Elder's Island. I have even traveled to a world different then my own."
