Gaven sat up and stretched, yawning as she glanced out of the cave and spotted Hakai grooming his horse. "Good morning," she said sleepily as she stood up and walked out of the cave. "That's a nice song you're humming," she commented. The bitter cool morning air chilled her and she wrapped her arms around herself. "Mind if I ask where you learned it?"

Hakai nodded. "It is an old song from my people. My mother used to sing it to me when I was little. I, in turn, have sung it to Imoto many times while I have raised her."

The view rom the cave stole her breath for a moment as her eyes cleared. "Wow," she said after a moment, sqatting down in the snow to escape the sun's rays. "Check out that view! It's beautiful!" She'd transported herself to quite a beautiful place it seemed and she wasn't regretting it, although she didn't regret much in her life.

Hakai fastened his packs to Imoto's saddle and tossed the bitless halter over the mare's head. Once set, he lead her out to where the girl was standing.
Hakai looked out at the sight of the mountian side. His people were of flat lants and open sky. The young man had to force himself from hunching his shoulders against mountain tops that rose kilometers above his head.
"It is a very beautiful sight."

Gaven murmured her agreement. "You know," she cocked her head to one side, "it always amazes me how so many poeple on so many different worlds could take things as beautiful as this for granted."

"Beauty can be found just about anywhere." Hakai replied. "You just have to search for it sometimes."

"True." She sat there for a moment, silent, then stood and stretched, arching her back and groaning. "So," she said when she was finished, "what's for breakfast?"

Hakai cleared some of the snow away to let Imoto graze on the sparse grass.
"There is some tea warming by the fire." he answered. "And some porridge."

Her eyes lit up. TEA. Her mind practically drueled at the thought. Then she heard pourridge and her thoughts turned sour. She wasn't to fond of pouridge, but she'd eat anything classified as food. "I'll take some tea. Do you have a glass? Oh, wait. Never mind, I'll take care of it." She held out one hand and pulled out her wand with the other. Poiting the end at a spot just above her hand, she stared pointedly at the air and suddenly yelled, "Ulzumo!" There was a series of popping noise and a chalice carved with dragons appeared out of thin air above her hand. She smiled with glee. It had worked! Her spell worked! Yay! She turned demurely to Hakai and said, "I'll be by the fire." She sauntered over to the fire and dipped her goblet into the tea.

Hakai gave Imoto a final pat and returned to the fire as well. He scouped out some porridge and sat cross-legged on the ground.

She took a gulp of the tea and folded her legs to her side. "So which way are we heading?"

"There's a game trail that leads further up the mountain." Hakai said between mouthfulls. "According to the information I have gathered on the portal, there is suppose to be some ruins of a temple or shrine."

"A shrine huh?" she said to him, then to herself, "there may be power there."

Hakai nodded as started cleaning up. Once everything was put away, he looped his face veils around his neck and looked at the girl.
"Ready?"

"As I'll ever be," she replied, smiling widely and dropped the goblet. With one word, it dissipated into smoke and drifted away on the wind. "Let's go." She stepped out of the cave and into the snow on the trail and froze - or rather, her feet did. She took a deep breath and wiggled her toes, trying to keep blood flowing through them.
